After 200 days in office, here are Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf’s top priorities for housing, development (San Francisco Business Times)

Seven months into her first year as mayor of Oakland, Libby Schaaf is looking to sustain a rising tide of private investment while protecting the city’s existing residents from increasingly expensive housing costs.

Schaaf said Oakland needs more housing development at all income levels, a policy position echoed by local planners and developers but opposed by some housing activists and politicians, who say more market-rate housing will drive rents up.
